Medicated Mosquito Nets (SAI NET)

Purpose:

Inspired by Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message of love and service, Sai youth of Surat District in Gujarat State decided to take up project SAINET. It is very useful to control mosquito related disease like malaria, Filariasis & Dengue epidemics in urban and rural areas.  Ordinary mosquito net is available from ancient times which are safe with little maintenance and no side effects but not fully efficient, protective or guaranteed. But now treated net with Deltamethrin solution can be prepared easily, which is not only protecting but also destroying mosquitoes, the moment they touch the net. Once medicated mosquito net is prepared, that can be used up to six months without washing.

Method of Preparation of Medicated Net:

  • Take 10 ml of LAKASHAYA (Deltamethrin 2.5% flow, synthetic Pyrethroid liquid) by syringe and add to 750 to 1000 ml of clean water in bucket and stir properly. (Precaution to be taken strictly is to do all activities wearing hand gloves and don’t inhale the medicine)
  • Put the net to be medicated, in the above prepared solution in bucket and roll the net thoroughly inside the bucket, till the whole net gets soaked in solution.
  • Without unfolding the net, take out the net soaked in solution and keep it on dry and dark area and pour the left out solution on this net.
  • Allow the net to dry for at least twelve hours in absolute dark area, free from sunlight.
  • After the above process, spread the net on strings and allow the net to dry for another 24 hours, till the net is absolutely dry. The above process of drying has to be done in dark area, free of sunlight.
  • Finally fold the nets and pack them, ready for distribution.
